Samsung Communications Introduces New Line of Cost-Effective Ubigate™ iES4000 Series Ethernet Switches

22 March, 2011 – Samsung Communications has a launched a new family of business grade Ethernet switches in Australia, marketed under the Samsung Ubigate brand, with further data products to be released later in the year.

The new Samsung Ubigate iES4000 Series of Ethernet Switches provide a secure, high-performance and cost-effective network management solution for businesses.

Brett McInnes, General Manager – Samsung Communications stated “The new Ubigate switches can be easily integrated with Samsung OfficeServ IP telephony systems with enhanced features for voice and high quality video over IP,  The Ubigate product line further strengthens Samsung’s ability to provide a comprehensive and integrated single-vendor brand communications solution, and our standing as a leading player in the unified communications, IP telephony and mobility solutions markets.”

Featuring up to 24 x 10/100 Fast Ethernet ports for the  iES4028FP and iES4028F models, and 24 x 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet ports for the iES4024GP model, and four Gigabit ports in a one-rack unit chassis, the layer 2-managed family offers a high performance to price ratio. Plus, Power over Ethernet (PoE) is available with iES4028FP and iES4024GP models, adding to the cost-effectiveness of the solution.

The PoE feature removes the need for AC power adapters to each PoE enabled end point and eliminates the cost of additional electrical cabling typically required with IP phone and wireless LAN deployments. It also eliminates the need for power injectors and PoE mid-spans for powering IP devices.

Since up to 36 switches can be clustered and managed from a single IP address, system capabilities can be easily extended to meet the needs of growing companies. Additionally, multilink trunking allows bundling of multiple ports, providing higher bandwidth and redundancy.

Other system highlights include advanced Quality of Service (QoS) and security features such as 802.1x based port security and DHCP snooping. The switches support VLANs for GVRP and Voice VLAN and are compatible with IEEE 802.3af compliant end devices.
